

Lilia was born on January 1, 1940, in Iloilo City, Philippines, and was one of ten siblings. She graduated from Far Eastern University in Manila, worked for a pharmaceutical company, and later immigrated to the United States. She married Fernando Vargas in Baltimore, Maryland, over fifty years ago. Shortly thereafter, they relocated to San Diego, California, where they lovingly raised their two daughters. Lilia dedicated the majority of her professional life to serving as a dietitian at UCSD Medical Center. Even after retirement, she continued working at various dialysis centers throughout San Diego, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to patient care. She found joy in visiting casinos and cherished spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. Her life was deeply rooted in love, generosity, and devotion to those closest to her. She will be remembered for the warmth she brought into every room and the steadfast care she gave to her family.
Lilia is survived by her husband, Fernando Vargas; her daughters, Rosalyn DeCastro and Kristine Fernandez; her son-in-law, Michael Fernandez; and her cherished grandchildren, Devin and Cameron DeCastro, and Sophia and Kayla Fernandez. She also leaves behind her siblings: Roger Ang, Rolando Ang, Norma Ang, Jose Ang, Robert Ang, and Rebecca Tan, along with a large and loving extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Larimgas Ang; her brothers, Victor, Romy, and Raul Ang; and her son-in-law, Dudley DeCastro.
A reception will follow the graveside service and be held at the Fernandez residence at 5:00 PM, 13708 Camino Del Suelo, San Diego, CA 92129
