SAN DIEGO -- Lillian May Reilly Palmer, known for her optimism, graciousness, homemade pies, love of life and family, died Dec. 9, 2016.
Our beloved Lillian, also known as Lil and Lillie May, was born in Spearfish, S.D. to Hugh and Eleanor Moody Reilly. Raised on a homestead in Wyoming, Lillian loved nature, children, singing, dancing and conversation.
She worked in San Diego during World War II and again after years in the Seattle area. In 1963 she married Allan Palmer a newspaperman with three daughters. She taught for 15 years in the Sweetwater School District, mainly at Bonita Vista Junior High.
Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, brother Donovan Reilly, and stepdaughter Vicki Palmer Mansfield. She is survived by stepdaughters Anita of San Diego and Shauna of Colorado; sister Irene Reilly Langlois of San Clemente; grandchildren Holly, Chad and Benjamin; and several nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
She was buried beside her husband at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery and remembered at a private gathering.
