She is preceded in death by both parents, her sister Mary Palacios, and brothers Bruno Jr., James, Octavio (Viejo), Robert, Ernie, and Charles. Her loving surviving siblings are Salome (Sally) and Andy Lopez.
Lorraine met and married the love of her life, Richard P. Yanes. They celebrated 58 wonderful years together. From their love, two children were born, Richard C. Yanes and Christina Gochmansky. Richard and Lorraine welcomed in Diana and James as their favorite Daughter and Son in laws. As time went on, their love grew with the addition of grandchildren Brie Gochmansky, Kayla Yanes, and Lucas Gochmansky. God knew Lorraine’s ‘huge heart and blessed her with two Great Grandchildren Cade and Declan James.
Prior to marriage and Children, Lorraine worked many jobs with her extended family in Yuma, Arizona. She then went to work for the railroads where she handled the teletype machine, billing, purchase orders and training many others. As she tried to stop working to focus on her new family, many railroads continued to call her to return to help out. She took great pride in her work. However, with the arrival of her first child Richard C, She and her husband moved to Imperial Beach where they made their home. Later, a much loved little girl, Christina arrived making their family complete.
Lorraine dedicated her life and love to her family and participated in many activities. Lorraine loved her church and God, enrolling both children at Saint Charles School. She volunteered at both the school and her Church. Not one to be content to let others do all the work, she arranged for Regis Philbin to MC the dinner. The success was an overwhelming raising of $165,000 toward the building of the new Church- St. Charles.
As her family grew, she took on the role of Club Scout Den Mother, worked right along with the Boy Scouts and made numerous trips to the Rocket Roller rink and other skating venues. When her children entered High School, Lorraine assisted MVHS both in fundraisers, fashion shows, and in the attendance office. She was known to be sitting in the stands of the gym for basketball games, and cheering in the bleachers during the track meets.
Lorraine made Imperial Beach her home since 1957. She was a friend and “mom” to many. She will be sadly missed. Her stories and jokes will continue to live on in all of us. Lorraine loved the holidays, celebrations and traditions. She would want all of us to continue her traditions and excitement of the Christmas Holiday.
