

LOURDES CABILES CHAVEZ
1929-2015
Lourdes Cabiles Chavez was born October 20, 1929 in Naga City, Republic of the Philippines, to Jose Alano and Dominga Rubio Cabiles. Lourdes passed away August 26, 2015 in San Diego, CA. Lourdes was the second youngest of nine children.
Growing up and attending school primarily in Naga City, Lourdes graduated from Ateneo de Naga University with a degree in Commerce. Lourdes was one of the first females to graduate from that University.
While working and living in Naga City, Lourdes met U.S. Navy Service member Juanito. Lourdes and Juanito married in 1959. Together and for the following 20 years they traveled and lived in various locations around the nation and world. Lourdes and Juanito settled in San Diego, where they finished raising two loving children Adriel John and Aimee Lynn.
Lourdes worked for many years at San Diego City College. Lourdes always remained very active in the lives of her children, and her grandchildren. Lourdes was very devoted to her faith, her church and to the Filipino American Community.
Lourdes was a devotee of the Virgin Mary and traveled to Lourdes, France where she completed a pilgrimage to Our Lady of Lourdes. She later traveled to Fatima, Portugal where she completed a pilgrimage to Our Lady of Fatima.
Lourdes loved flowers, she cultivated roses and orchids at her home. She enjoyed traveling, music, and dancing. More importantly Lourdes loved spending time with all her family.
Lourdes is survived by Juanito Chavez, her loving husband of 56 years, her daughter Aimee Lynn, her son Adriel John, son in law James, her brother Roland Cabiles and sister Lina Cabiles Saludes, her grandchildren Julian his wife Sharon, Steffen, Ciara and numerous family members and friends.
A viewing will be held at Glenn Abbey Chapel; of the Roses in Bonita, CA on Thursday September 3rd, 2015 from 5pm to 9pm.
A celebration of Lourdes Cabiles Chavez’s life will be held on September 4, 2015 at St Charles Catholic Church, Imperial Beach CA
