“…be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” (James 1:22 NKJV) Lucille Jones lived this Biblical exhortation with a passion. From the moment her feet hit the floor to the time her head hit the pillow each night she would be doing things for Family and Friends. With her incredible talents and gifts she could have easily been a highly sought after engineer, but she chose to use her gifts to lovingly create works of art for those she loved. She was constantly “crafting” and sewing something for someone. Mingled in with this incredible gift was her willingness to mother and grandmother both Family and Friends. While she is a biological mother to three, grandmother to four and great grandmother to seven, her mothering skills were extended to countless others in the course of her life here.
There are no words to describe the void we all feel at her departure. But we take heart knowing she is now more alive than any of us, no longer encumbered by the frailty of her body. She is eternally enjoying her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and the many Family and Friends who have gone before her. If she were here now she would conclude this tribute with the following:
6 … the time of my departure has come. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for His appearing. (2 Tim 4:6b-8 NRSV-CE)
And finally, she expects to see each and every one of you sooner or later!!!
