

Margie Elizabeth Jones
November 24, 1925 – February 29, 2020
Margie Elizabeth Jones, age 94, passed away at her home in Lemon Grove, California, on Saturday, February 29, 2020. She was born on November 24, 1925 in McCrory, Arkansas to Lois L. Cole and Daisy V. Cole.
Margie graduated from Stephen Watts Kearny Junior-Senior High School in San Diego (now known as Kearny High) in June of 1944. Her ambition at the time was to be a stenographer. Also, according to her yearbook, Margie was part of the Library Science Class that worked in the library and helped out students during the morning and after school rush. The yearbook had a page called “Class Wills” and Margie’s will to the class was to “will her quietness to Hazel Chadwick. Margie whispers that her manner is the way to
many a teacher’s heart.”
Following her ambition to become a stenographer, she went back to school at San Diego City College to take secretarial classes while raising her only child, Lynn.
She went on to work as a federal employee of the United States Navy at North Island in San Diego beginning October 1966. She held various positions during her 23 years at North Island beginning as a Clerk Typist for the Supply Office and retiring as a Personnel Support Specialist for the Navy Personnel Command Office in 1989.
Margie was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star,
Sunset Chapter, for over 50 years.
She will lovingly be remembered and missed by her daughter, Lynn Hill, and two grandchildren, Christopher Hill and Victoria Fisher.
