Maria Teresa Amezcua, 92, entered eternal rest peacefully on September 8, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.
Guided by a profound Catholic faith, Maria Teresa created a home filled with warmth and devotion. She was a true social butterfly who was always on the phone with family and friends, keeping everyone close to her heart. She found great joy in nature, whether watching hummingbirds in her garden or caring for her abundance of indoor house plants—a passion she happily pursued, never minding the water bill. Her generous heart extended to a large extended family, leaving countless nieces and nephews feeling like her absolute favorite.
She is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Jose M. Amezcua. She leaves behind a lasting legacy through her children, Fernando, Hector, Octavio, Rosie, Teri and Arturo; 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Laura and Oscar.
A service to celebrate her beautiful life will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

• Funeral Mass: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 2643 Homedale St., San Diego, CA 92139.
• Graveside service : 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM at Glen Abbey Memorial Park, 3838 Bonita Rd., Bonita, CA 91902.
• Reception: 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM in the Magnolia Room at Glen Abbey Memorial Park, 3838 Bonita Rd., Bonita, CA 91902.
In honor of her love for gardening, flowers are welcome, or donations may be made in her memory to Catholic Charities in San Diego County.
