Maria Mena

Maria was born in Puntarenas, Costa Rica on August 1st, 1923 to parents Manuel and Cristina Chavez -Guerrero. It was in Costa Rica that Maria would meet and marry the love of her life Damaso (Don) Mena in September 1944. Together they would go on to become parents to their 3 children. Maria called many places home over her lifetime including Costa Rica and Peru before coming to America in 1962 and settling in San Diego which she would make her home for the following 61 years.

Maria enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, dancing and laughing. She could always be found tending to her garden.

Maria is predeceased by her husband Don Mena, her son Jorge Mena and her parents and grandparents. She is survived by her loving daughters Carmen Mena and Sandra (Jeffery) Taylor; her grandchildren Christina (Daniel) Gray, Rebecca (Nico) Wylie and Joshua (Julia) Taylor; and her great grandchildren Joseph, Lucas, Damian and Austin.

Viewing and Rosary will take place 5pm-9pm July 15th, 2024 at Glen Abby Mortuary. Funeral Mass will take place 10am July 16th, 2024 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, burial at Glen Abby Cemetery 11:30, followed by a celebration of life at Sweeeetwater Reservoir.
