

Everyone’s life is the sum total of all of the people they have met, the things they have done, the places they have gone. Megumi Lockett was no exception. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Megumi will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Megumi’s life journey began on May 6. 1967. She first greeted the world in Yokohama, Japan. Her parents' names were Hiroshi and Kiyomi Saito. She was raised in Yokohama with two siblings, Tsuyoshi and Mika Saito. Megumi was involved in all sorts of activities with her family sharing many special life experiences over the years.
Megumi was a typical teenager who had a fairly happy high school experience, making the critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. She graduated from Shinei High School in 1985. She later continued her education by attending Chiyo Tanaka College of Fashion Arts where she earned her degree in March of 1988.
Falling in love is a huge milestone for any person. Just knowing that you have met that special someone is a magical feeling. Megumi experienced that with her sweetheart Matthew Lockett and the couple exchanged wedding vows on March 21, 2002. The wedding took place in Guam. Empathic and loyal, Megumi was committed to making her new family happy.
While everything a person does in life contributes to who they grow into, it is ultimately this same person who holds the most influence on the next generation. Megumi was blessed with one son, Jermaine Hiro Lockett. Megumi worked hard to be a good mother to her son and she did her best to fulfill his needs by raising him in a positive and nurturing environment.
How a person performs in the workplace can be a reflection on how they live their life. Fortunately, Megumi enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, she worked diligently and did her best to succeed in each of her occupations. Megumi worked for Laboratory Corporation of America as a Patient Service Technician. She was proud to earn a Certificate of Competency in Phlebotomy and a Certificate of Competency in Healthcare Essentials. She was also a professional seamstress and tailor for Shimaki Tailoring.
A person's hobbies often mirror who they have become. Megumi enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in a number of different activities, including crocheting, cooking, creating floral arrangements and designing clothes. She was always willing to share her interests with others.
Megumi Lockett left us on July 10, 2011. She passed away in La Jolla, California of natural causes. She is survived by her loving husband Matthew Lockett; her son Jermaine Lockett; sister Mika Saito; brother Tsuyoshi Saito and his wife Tamae; father and mother-in-law Samuel and Susan Eleazer; brother-in-law Willis Lockett and his wife Phyllis; sister-in-law Alease Lockett, one nephew and four nieces; as well as many other friends and relatives. Services were handled by Glen Abbey Mortuary. A Funeral Service was held at The Glen Abbey Mortuary Chapel on July 14, 2011.
Simply stated, Megumi was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being caring and giving, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Megumi leaves behind her a legacy of lifelong friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life Megumi Lockett touched will always remember her with a smile.
