Merrilyn W Towne

Merrilyn Williams Towne, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025 at the age of 97, in San Diego, CA. Merrilyn was born on March 8,1928 in Rutland, VT to Kathryn and Leighton Williams. Merrilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Towne, and is survived by her 5 children Coreen Lain (Steve), Peggy Lynch (Tom), Ted Towne (Kay), Maureen Everett (David) and Kathleen Balaschak (Paul). She was nana to 9 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Merrilyn retired from the SDUSD where she worked as an instructional assistant. She volunteered for many organizations including Paradise Valley Hospital, Girl Scouts, and DAR. She taught Sunday school and was involved in the church missions ministry.

Merrilyn was passionate about music and shared her piano and organ playing skills in many churches throughout the years. She will be remembered for her strong faith, love, guidance and inspiration to her family, neighbors and friends.
