

She was born in Denison Texas on December 6, 1926. She was the oldest child of six to Frank and Bennie Fike. She married Robert Pruitt on December 24, 1944. They moved to San Diego in 1947 and in 1952 they built and moved into their home in Chula Vista where they raised their family. They had two children, daughter Dyanne and son Dale. She created a house filled with warmth, love and home cooking where many of their children’s friends spent a lot of time and felt welcomed.
Mickie was dedicated to her church and family. She found a new passion as her children were nearly grown and went back to school and began her teaching career. She taught in the South Bay School District for 20 years. Her talent for teaching was very evident when she helped her children and grandchildren study and prepare for tests. One of her hobbies was sewing and she became a wonderful seamstress whose talents blessed many. Bob & Mickie were dedicated Padre fans and season ticket holders.
After retiring Mickie and Bob enjoyed motor homing across the country and also went on several Mission trips with their church from South Africa to Mexico. Mickie treasured the role of Grandma, supporting and enjoying their many interests and activities.
She is survived by her son Dale Pruitt and his wife Joy; Five grandchildren, Andrea Tomkiel, Carrie Hall, Courtney Pruitt, Justin Pruitt, and Jacob Pruitt; Nine great-grandchildren, Brooke, Corinne, Robert, Josette, Tyrell, Jelani, Jada, Sienna and Violet; Nine great-great-grandchildren, Ryder, Isaac, Rowin, Avree, Brynlee, Damian, Zoey, Brianna, and Adrian; One sister, Myra Weger. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Pruitt, daughter Dyanne, granddaughter Adrienne, and grandson Aaron.
A celebration of life will be held at Chula Vista First United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 27 at 3:00pm. Reception immediately following. 1200 East H Street, Chula Vista, CA 91910.
