Milton William Porter Jr.

A Life Well Lived!” Milton William Porter, Jr. “Bill” passed away on August 30, 2025 surrounded by members of his family. Bill was born on November 17, 1934. in Wakefield, Massachusetts to Olive Evans Morrison Porter and Milton William Porter, Sr.

Bill was widowed from his loving wife, Josephine, since 2020. Over the years he and his dog, Max, were well-known at the Sunbow Starbucks Plaza where he gathered with friends almost daily, rain or shine, for more than 10 years. He also became a familiar face at The Pasea Senior Living Community where he enjoyed new-found energy and friends.

Bill joined the Navy in 1952 at the age of 17 and served for over 20 years. He completed Boot Camp at Great Lakes, Illinois, then technical training in Norman, Oklahoma. Afterward, he was assigned as an Aircraft Mechanic to a Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron at Norfolk Naval Air Station. In 1962 he was transferred to San Diego. His next transfer was to Chase Field Naval Air Station in Beeville, Texas then, lastly, back to San Diego. He served two assignments to Vietnam in 1962 and 1968, retiring 1972. Never one to settle for the quiet life Bill joined the original Federal Air Marshal program as a Sky Marshal followed later with an appointment as a Special Agent for U.S. Customs.

Beloved father, he leaves his children: Catherine (Kitty) Yancheff (Michael); Roberta Taylor (Timothy); William Porter (Bonnie); John Porter (Erika). He is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Nicholas and Lisa; Cassandra; Dylan and Teagan; Jonathan, David and Melissa; and five great- grandchildren: Charlotte; Emma and Cole; and Lorenzo and Felipe.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine; his parents Olive and Milton; his step-mother, Josephine; his sister, Jean and his step-brother, Richard.

A Funeral Mass to celebrate his life will be held at Chapel of the Roses, Glen Abbey in Bonita at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2025, followed by Military Honors

at Sleepy Hollow, Glen Abbey and a reception at the Elks Lodge #2011, 901 Elks Ln, Chula Vista.
