Nicetas Trovela Villanueva passed away on Monday, September 17, 2018 in Chula Vista, California. She was 79. Nene, as she was called by many, was born in Majayjay, Laguna in the Philippines to Valentin Trovela and Gregoria Brioso and later moved to Manila. It was there that she met Rodolfo (Rudy) who swept her off her feet, and the two were married on December 9, 1967. Rudy's career in the US Navy brought her to the United States in 1969 where they raised their two children in different parts of the country over a span of 22 years. She eventually made her way to Southern California in late 2000 to be closer to her family and help raise her grandchildren.
Nene had several hobbies that kept her busy--cooking, sewing, and gardening--and lived a very social life with Rudy that brought them to many parties where they often showed off their dancing skills. In her later years, the travel bug bit her, and she became a big fan of cruise ships, which took her to places like Mexico, Alaska, and the Mediterranean. She also loved casinos and often took advantage of slot machines with great success. She cherished all the friends she made as a Navy wife from Connecticut to Florida, Hawaii to Washington, and finally San Diego.
She leaves her son, Ronnie Villanueva and daughter-in-law, Dinah; daughter, Ninette Aguinaldo and son-in-law, Arnel; and grandchildren, Nia, Alan, Ryan, and Dylan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy (2000), and by her sister, Letty, and brother, Ed.
A visitation for Nicetas will be held Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 5pm to 9pm at Little Chapel of the Roses at Glen Abbey Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, CA 91902. A memorial service will occur Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 9am at Little Chapel of the Roses at Glen Abbey Memorial Park and Mortuary, immediately followed by interment at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, Cabrillo Memorial Drive, San Diego, CA 92106.
