Nightingale Dacuycuy, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and cherished matriarch, entered peacefully into eternal rest at the age of 96. Born and raised in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, she was the eldest of nine children and a proud Ilocano. Later in life, she became equally proud to call Chicago and San Diego home.
Widowed early in marriage, Nightingale embraced the role of both mother and father to her young children with grace, courage, and unwavering faith—earning the deep respect and affection of all who knew her. As a teacher, mother, aunt, grandmother, hospital recreational therapist, and great-grandmother, she lived a full and dignified life dedicated to service and love.
A lifelong and devout Catholic, Nightingale’s faith was the foundation of everything she did. She lived each day in prayer and gratitude, trusting in the Lord and finding joy in the blessings He placed before her. Her home radiated warmth, compassion, and the steady presence of her steadfast belief.
She is survived by her children, Erol and Rosemie, who remain guided by the values and faith she instilled. her daughter-in-law Dina, son-in-law Gary, as well as her sisters, brother, nephews, and nieces, who will deeply miss her. Her legacy continues through her four grandchildren—Sheryl, Kristene, Rhyne, and Jedd—and her two great-grandchildren, Sabine and Ella—each of whom brought immense joy to her life.
Nightingale was the heart of her family: a beacon of faith, a source of wisdom, and an example of unconditional love. Though her family mourns her passing, they take comfort knowing she has been reunited with her beloved husband, Juanito Dacuycuy, and other cherished family members, and welcomed into the loving arms of the Lord.
May her soul rest in God’s eternal peace.
