

Onofre was predeceased by his wife, Elisa Murguia Valdez, of 46 years married, with whom he shared two daughters, Angelica Valdez and Elisabeth Suiter (Steven). He is predeceased by his first wife, Gloria Razo Valdez, and their two eldest children Jose and Gloria Patricia Valdez. He is survived by his and Gloria’s children Victor (Becky), Genoveva, Bruno and Vicente Valdez (Vonda). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren — Gina, Victor, David, Rey, Ruben, Roman “Mikey,” Veronica, Bruno-Simon, Frankie, London, Lisa, Rudy, Kai and Dorian — and one great-grandson, Connor. He is predeceased by one granddaughter, Michelle. He is also survived by his siblings Maria Silvas, Juan (Hortencia), Agustin (Soledad), Benjamin (Lupe), Manuel, and his youngest sibling, Lupe Valdez. He is predeceased by his siblings Julian Valdez and Alvina Cabral.
Onofre worked 44 years as a missile final assembly painter for General Dynamics’ Convair and Space Systems divisions working primarily on the Atlas/Centaur launch vehicle program, before retiring in 1995. He also enjoyed long road trips, especially to Yosemite National Park.
A funeral Mass for Onofre will be held Monday, March 20, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 345 Anita Street, Chula Vista, CA 91911. Following the funeral service at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, there will be a graveside service from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Glen Abbey Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, CA 91902.
