

Pablo Malinag Fernandez, Jr. passed away on Friday, March 17, 2022 at the age of 87. Pablo was born on March 30, 1934 in Pila, Laguna, Philippines to the late Pablo Fernandez, Sr. and Melita Malinag Fernandez, with siblings, Erlinda, Roger, Lucielle, Myrna, Concepcion and Rosario.
Pablo graduated from National University as a Geodetic and Civil Engineer and had the opportunity to help develop and improve cities in various countries over the span of his 20-year career. He’s been around the world working as a Geodetic and Civil Engineer in Cambodia, Vietnam, Brunei, Singapore, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia. He was an active Lay Minister of the Eucharist and a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus in the Philippines. He married his love, Dominga “Gaying”, on August 22, 1964, and provided a wonderful life for his wife and three children, Juvilyn, Altaire and Rigelle, in Laguna, Philippines. He later retired in National City, California.
Not only a devoted husband and a warm, generous family man, Pablo was also a basketball fanatic and carried a deep appreciation for music, which he shared with his grandchildren, Paolo (Laura), Patricia (Tom), Carlo (Kiran), Pauline, Paul, Angelo and Andrew, and great granddaughter, Olivia.
Pablo is remembered and survived by his dear wife Dominga “Gaying”, his four siblings, children, son-in-law Joseph, daughter-in-law Elma, grandchildren, great granddaughter and many other loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Loved ones are invited to gather in a celebration of his life on Sunday, March 27, 2022 from 4-7pm PST at Glen Abbey Memorial Park and Mortuary 3838 Bonita Rd, Bonita, CA 91902 (dignitymemorial.com). A funeral mass will be held on Monday, March 28, 2022 at 10:00am PT at St. Mary Catholic Church at 426 E. 7th Street, National City, CA 91950.
