April 28, 1950 - July 31, 2025
Patricio Agahan Moneda, 75, passed away peacefully in San Diego, surrounded by love and family, on July 31, 2025.
Patricio was born and raised in Kawit, Cavite Philippines, where he met the love of his life, Rizalina Ronquillo Moneda, holding each other in matrimony for 54 years. His devotion to provide and build a fruitful life led him to proudly serve in the United States Navy for 24 years, 4 years as a Company Commander, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. Patricio then spent his first 15 years as a Veteran, working for the Defense Commissary Agency as one of the leading cashiers. The “Deca Vision” magazine recognized him on the front page cover story as “Cashier of the Year” for the San Diego Commissary. He was known to brighten every customer’s day with his positive attitude.
Though he was a successful man, his true prized accomplishments came from the life that he and Rizalina built together. While stationed in Hawaii, Rizalina birthed their first son, Jeff (53). Planting roots in San Diego, California, they welcomed their youngest son Patrick (45). Jeff continued the family tree by marrying Michelle Noza Moneda, having two children together, Abigail and Nathaniel. Patrick married Aileen Partosan Moneda, and adopted a beautiful daughter, Emma. His granddaughter, Abigail married her husband, Deondre, and together made Patricio a great-grandfather to Adrien and Reyna. Nathaniel carried on the Moneda name by welcoming Megan Rodrigues Moneda into the family.
Patricio was a humble, proud man. He enjoyed the simple things that life offered him, like gardening, improving the family home, rooting on the San Diego Padres baseball team, and delivering fruit to all of his family. People were drawn to his calming comfort and contagious smile. He never had to say much, because you can tell in his eyes how genuinely happy he truly was.
On July 31, 2025 Patricio passed away, battling Covid and Pneumonia. His beloved family never left his side and comforted him through his last breath.
Patricio Agahan Moneda’s legacy lives on through his family’s love and laughter. We see him under the rays of sunshine in his garden, amongst the vibrant colors in his Plumerias. His spirit lives on in the hummingbirds that visit his family and the butterflies that make their presence. Truly a love and memory that will never be forgotten.
A celebration of Patricio’s life will be held on August 17 at 5pm-9pm at the Glen Abbey Orchid Pavilion. On August 18, mass will be held at Saint Michael’s Church at 10am, followed by the funeral at Glen Abbey.
