Pedro San Jose Advento Jr.

My dad's name is Pedro SJ Advento, Jr. He was born on April 9, 1945 at Siniloan Laguna Philippines. His parents were Pedro Adolfo Advento, Sr. and Maxima Mendoza San Jose. He is the 16th child of 17 children.

As a child, he was an honor student at Siniloan elementary school. After graduation, his sister (Julia) transferred him to Manila where he studied at Manuel Quezon elementary school and graduated there in High School. He took his bachelor's degree in business administration at the University of the East where he met my mom (Minda).

He described her as his true love constantly chasing her throughout college. Later, they became close friends and decided to court her. My dad started visiting her at her house where her father routinely challenged him in chess. According to him, he purposely loses to gain her father's hospitality & trust. After a long courtship, they got married. They gave birth to 4 children (Joseph, Maida, Jeff & Minette)

He was a successful CPA working for an oil company but His dream was to take our family to United States. He was able to immigrate first to find a suitable job to support our family before we arrive. After working for several companies, he decided to become an entrepreneur. He was a good businessman selling various plastic products to small businesses. He even got all my siblings involved in his business.

About 10 years ago, he was diagnosed with diabetes. His lifestyle changed after he had the operation for dialysis. He knew then that he needs to slowly let go of all his business endeavors. His weekly routine was to go to a dialysis center three times a week and attend a senior center twice a week. Even if he was exhausted from dialysis, he never stops creating new ideas for him to share. About three years ago, he started to create planes. He would sculpt it from paper using regular tapes and enjoys sharing them to all his friends, relatives and especially his grandchildren. Every time he attends doctor’s appointment or hospital visits, he sings to all the nurses.

After his double bypass heart operation, he had a difficult time recovering. Despite of several ailments, he kept fighting for his recovery until his last breath.
