Peggy O’Doniel Smith passed away peacefully on November 18. Peggy was born in Lakeland, Florida on November 27, 1920. She attended Virginia Intermont College and Florida Southern College, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in science and math in 1942. She married Fenton F. Smith in 1943, and they remained happily together until his passing in 2006.
In 1965 Peggy received a Master’s degree in education from California Western University, and began teaching third grade in the Chula Vista Elementary School District for the next 15 years. At the end of her teaching career she was a math specialist.
Peggy is survived by her four loving children, Scott Smith, Steve Smith, Melody Cernitz, and Candy Murphy, as well as nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren who love her very much.
