Ray S. Heredia, age 86, of San Diego, California, died Saturday afternoon, January 12, 2019 at the Kaiser Hospital surrounded by his family. Born March 11, 1932, in Nestor, California, he was the son of the late Miguel C. Heredia and Dolores S. Heredia.
Ray worked as a roofer and then acquired his own business, Rays Roofing Company in which he ran successfully for more than 20 years and thereafter retired. He enjoyed fishing out in his boat and taking friends and family out on fishing excursions locally and out to Baja California. Ray loved cruising and travelling with his wife, Delia exploring sites throughout the United States and ports of Mexico. Ray was a loving husband, father and brother that when he smiled you knew you were loved.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Eudelia “Delia” D. Heredia; along with his two daughters; Dena and husband Paul Larson and Julie and husband Steve Olszower of Chula Vista, California; 4 grandchildren, Elizabeth Larson Busser and Krysten J. Larson; Stephanie D. Coffin and Nicholas D. Olszower; one sibling, Alejandrina “Nena” Heredia Messick of Chandler, AZ; and many other loving nieces, nephews and relatives. Ray was preceded in death by his son, Ray C. Heredia who passed on October 21, 2016.
He was a father who always involved himself in every detail of his family’s lives and supported, respected and loved his wife unconditionally. He was a man of strong faith, believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s love and the beauty and peace that would await him after his passing.
