Raynoel N. Musico, United States Naval Academy Class of ’81, 14th Company, passed to eternal life on May 17, 2017 in his hometown of San Diego, California. He was 58 years young survived by his loving, devoted wife Rosemarie Ann Abuel, his 11 children ranging in age from 30 down to 8 (Rachel, Greg, Adam, Kayla, John, Ann, Kai, Ben, Kole, Michael, and Maria) and grandson Gabe, age 3. He is also survived by his Mother Maria and siblings Rowena (class of 1983), Alvin, Melva and Melisa. Ray, also known by “Muzy” and “Captain Jack”, is a Navy Brat of YNC Greg M. Musico, USN, retired with 30+ years of service. Ray proudly served on the USS Constellation (CV-64) of which his favorite responsibility was to guide the “Connie” gracefully into the San Diego harbor. He was also briefly assigned to the USS Bagley (FF-1069).
Subsequent to his medical retirement, Ray successfully transitioned to civilian life and was employed by Raytheon as a Principal Systems Engineer for 27+ years (most recently employed by General Atomics). Although very quiet by nature, Ray made friends easily. If you were a friend of his, you were a friend for life.
Ray lived life to the fullest, thoroughly engaged in the lives his 11 children, never missing a father-daughter dance with Maria, his youngest child. In his later years, Ray could be seen serving as an usher, Eucharistic Minister, or catechist, at The Immaculata Parish on the USD campus. In this role, Ray was most proud of his entire family who unselfishly dedicated themselves to the Lord on a weekly basis. While his time with us was unexpectedly cut short, Ray’s legacy will carry on, both seen and unseen. Our love for him will continue to grow in his absence; he will be profoundly missed.
