

Richard was born on October 15, 1929 in Honolulu Hawaii, the eleventh of thirteen children born to Manual Farias Pacheco and Christina De Costa Pacheco.
Richard grew up in Honolulu and joined the Army at age 22. He was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Upon returning home to Oahu, he married the love of his life, Gladys Masae Kaneshiro on October 8th, 1955. They had two sons, Rick and Clyde before moving to Spring Valley, California where Steve and Cynthia were born.
Richard worked as an Electrician at MCRD for 30 years. He was also a skilled carpenter, adding room additions to his first home for his growing family and building a second home across the street where he lived the remainder of his life.
Richard loved returning to the islands to visit family and friends over the years. Mom and Dad’s last visit was just two months ago.
Richard volunteered in the community coaching and managing his sons’ little league baseball teams for many years while his wife Gladys kept score at all their baseball games.
Richard loved to bowl, hunt and work in his vegetable garden. He was always available to help family and friends with household projects. He could fix anything. He spent his free time watching various sports on TV but mostly, Richard loved his family more than anything and loved being with them. He will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on January 18th, 2019 at Glen Abbey Memorial Park at the Little Chapel of the Roses with reception to follow. Visitation is at 10:00am.
