

Richard, age 53 succumbed Saturday, May 22, 2021 after a 3 year hard fought battle with colon cancer. Richard was born on October 4, 1967 in West Ham, England. He joined the United States Navy and retired after 20 years of service November, 2011. Richard earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Columbia Jan, 2013. After retiring from the Navy and earning his degree, he proudly served the United States Department of Defense (DOD), Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton as a Federal Police Officer for 5 years.
Richard touched the lives of so many he came into contact with. He loved to provide mentorship to young adults. He was purposeful in his words and it was important to him for others to find their passion and purpose in life. He had a warm smile, infectious laugh, caring and gentle soul. Richard lived each day to the fullest and believed life was too short for cheap wine! Though cancer may destroy the body it could neither silence his courage or ruin his faith.
Richard, married 16 years, is survived by his wife, Terri; stepdaughter, Veronica Gibson; stepson, Cameron Gibson; in-laws, Robert & Maria Williams; brother-in-law, Robert Williams, Jr.; California families: Coleman and Wright; La Familia de Espana; dear friends: Peter & Michelle Bell; Dennis Gibson
His parents, Grantley S. & Lucille E. Riley, their children, Douglas C. Riley and his sons, Douglas and Destin; Valentine D. Riley and his daughters, Alexis and Vanessa; Donavan D. Riley. London Family: Cameron & Pauline Riley and their son Mark and his children Bradley and Georgia; their daughter Tracy and her husband Granville and their children Olivia, Ashley and grand-daughter Winnie. Barbados families: Atwell’s, Walcott’s, Riley’s and Small’s; United States families: Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts (Boston), North Carolina, Texas, Virginia & Washington State. Along with his many colleagues, friends and neighbors.
Lastly, Richard is survived by his loyal and faithful service dog - Remington
