

Richard P. Yanes was born on November 14, 1926 to Jesus Yanes and Maria Fiero in his home of Alhambra, California. He was raised in Alhambra with four siblings, Rudy, Robert, Raymond and Rachel. In 1936 at the age of ten, Richard and his family relocated to Shell Town which is located in the city limits of National City, California.
At a young age, Richard met and fell in love with Lorraine Lopez and the couple happily exchanged wedding vows on November 16, 1952. The wedding ceremony was held at Byrd’s Cottage Wedding Chapel in Yuma, Arizona. They would go on to celebrate 58 wonderful years together.
Richard and Lorraine were blessed with two children, Richard and Christina. Later in life they received the joy of three grandchildren Brie, Lucas and Kayla and three great-grandchildren Cade, Declan James and Lilah.
Fortunately, Richard enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Richard worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his occupations. Richard first enlisted in The United States Navy and saw action in World War II. He proudly served his country and completed his tour with the final rank of Seaman First Class. He would continue with employment at Rohr Industries where he retired after 33 years.
Richard enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various activities including volunteering for his community. He loved working with the Boy Scouts of America, American Legion and The Red Cross. Richard was always to share his interests with others.
Richard left us on December 30, 2011 at the age of 85. He passed away in Chula Vista, California. He is survived by his loving children Richard Yanes and wife Diana, Christina Gochmansky and husband James; his siblings Robert Yanes and Rachel Yanes; his grandchildren Brie and Lucas Gochmansky and Kayla Yanes; as well as his great grandchildren Cade, Declan James and Lilah. Services were handled by Glen Abbey Mortuary. A Funeral Service was held at The Little Chapel of the Roses on Saturday, January 7, 2012. Richard P. Yanes was later laid to rest at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California.
