Born on October 14, 1969 Ronald C. Waugh Jr began his life's journey. He was survived by his father Ronald C. Waugh Sr. and mother, Iris Alsbury; younger sister Dennise; children Talen, Donovan, Gavin, Victoria and Vincent.
Ron was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas by both parents until he was 16. He studied automotive mechanics, graduated and worked for several car dealerships. Ron, as we knew him, led a life of dedication to his family, friends and his country. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1995 and joined the Engineer Division OIC 4th RECON BN in San Diego. Ron served our country in the United States Marine Corps for 9 years then later served the in United States Army for 7 years with bravery, honor and distinction. Sergeant Waugh served three tours to Afghanistan consecutively in 2005-2006, 2007-2008 and 2009-2010. He earned the NATO Afghanistan Campaign Medal with three Campaign stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, the USN Achievement Medal (3rd Award), Army Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the USMC Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), the National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), the Marine Corps Conduct Medal and much more, too numerous to mention.
Ron was a wonderful, compassionate and thoughtful person. An example would be a day I remember on December 24, 2010, when he called me from Georgia to ask if it was okay to take the place of soldiers who had duty on that day. The soldiers wanted to spend time with their families who were already stationed there. Without hesitation he volunteered to stay in Georgia so his company can spend time with their families while his family was here in California.
Another example of Ron's generosity was a time he noticed several homeless people near the trolley tracks on Main St. in Chula Vista. He went down and spoke to them, spent time to listen to their stories. With his giving nature, Ron bought them food and gave them his comforter for warmth. That is the kind and generous person I will always remember him to be. Always thinking of others before himself and always willing to lend his helping hand however he can. He often asked “Do you need anything?”, “How can I help...”
In Ron's spare time he enjoyed “picking”, looking for items that are old, antique, and rare. He went to many garage sales, auctions and thrift stores around Alabama, Georgia and California, excited to look for rare, intriguing items to collect for his daughter, Talen. He shared a strong common bond with Talen, Donovan and Gavin. He loved to spend quality time with his children- going fishing when time permits, camping or just hanging round... talking, laughing, and joking. Ron was so full of life who often pulled a prank or two, because he would have a kick out of looking at your reaction. Those were the times we would “really” see him smile.
If Ron could speak to us today he would say....
“Don't spend too much time in mourning. Tears are for the sad.
I left to be with Jesus and this should make you glad.
No need to feel distress. I'm tired of life's frustrations and had to get some rest.
Oh, please don't feel guilty it was just my time to go.
We all come to earth for our lifetime and for some it's not many years.
I don't want you to keep crying. You are shedding too many tears.
Jesus was standing there next to me and waited for my time.
Our Savior reached out his hands and placed them on mine.
I saw the heavens open and heard the Angles sing
with heavenly bells chime. He looked at me and smiled.
Then took all my burdens away.
Replaced it with peace and joy,
He told me to come then lifted me up
and my soul left my weary body.
I have a place in Heaven with Jesus now at my side.
My life on earth was very good as earthly life can be
but Heaven is so much more than anyone can know.
My heart is filled with happiness and sweet rejoicing too.
To walk and talk with God is perfect peace.
I haven't really left you even though it may seem I did.
My life on earth was very good as earthly life can be
but heaven is so much more than anyone can know.
I have just gone with Jesus to my heavenly home and I'm closer to you than you know.
Just believe that when you say my name I'm standing next to you.
I know you want to see me but there's nothing I can do.
But I'll still send you messages of peace and comfort that everything is okay
and hope you understand that when your time comes to cross over
I'll be there to take your hand on that day".
Ron will be remembered by all those who knew him as a true and honorable person with a kind heart and a deep passion for his family, friends and for his country.
HAVING A PLACE TO GO IS HOME. HAVING SOMEONE TO LOVE IS FAMILY. HAVING BOTH IS A BLESSING. I GOT BOTH AND NOW I GO HOME TO HEAVEN TO BE WITH OUR LORD JESUS AND WAIT FOR YOU THERE TO BE WITH ME AGAIN.

My Dad
We'll always remember that special smile, that caring heart, that warm embrace, you always gave us. You being there for Mom and us through good and bad times, no matter what. We'll always remember you Dad because they'll never be another one to replace you in our hearts, and the love we will always have for you. I will always remember the times we spent together and the love we share. I miss you so much daddy and I know I will see you again. You will there with Jesus standing by the pearly gates to welcome me. But for now I will just stay here for awhile. The necklace I wear is you and I will always keep you close to me. Thank you for loving me and being my daddy and for being there for me. I LOVE YOU DAD. Until we meet again. Talen

Thoughts of you Dad
Often I find myself thinking of you, Dad. I just want you to know, you mean the world to me. Only a heart as dear as yours would give so unselfishly. The many things you've done, all the times that you were there. Helps me know deep down inside how much you really care. Even though I might not say, I appreciate all you do. Of the support and encouragement you’ve given me over the years. Of your generosity, kindness and guidance and especially of the many talks that we have had together. And it’s when I think of these things that I realize how much it has helped me. To know that you’ve had many of the same dreams and doubts that I’ve had in life. Though I know I don’t say it often enough Dad, I admire and love you very much. Dad, One other thing, Thank you for being there for me! Love, Gavin

I know that no matter what you will always be with me. When life separates us I'll know it is only your soul saying goodbye to your body but your spirit will be with me always. When I see a bird chirping on a nearby branch I will know it is you singing to me. When a butterfly brushes gently by me so care free I will know it is you assuring me you are free from pain. When the gentle fragrance of a flower catches my attention I will know it is you reminding me to appreciate the simple things in life.
When the sun shining through my window awakens me I will feel the warmth of your love. When I hear the rain pitter patter against my window sill I will hear your words of wisdom and will remember what you taught me so well that without rain trees cannot grow without rain flowers cannot bloom without life's challenges I cannot grow strong. When I look out to the sea I will think of your endless love for your family. When I think of mountains, their majesty and magnificence I will think of your courage for your country. No matter where I am your spirit will be beside me for I know that no matter what you will always be with me. One more thing....thank you so much for being my DAD
