

Rosalina Torres Hall also known as Rosie, passed away on Aug 5th, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. Rosie was born on Dec 6th, 1952 in El Barreal. El Barreal is a rural area in the town of Peñuelas. Peñuelas is located in the southern region of Puerto Rico near Ponce. Rosie was born to the late Manuel Valerio-Torres and Isabel Quinones. Rosie was the youngest of her siblings. She is preceded in death by her Mother Isabel Quinones and her Father Manuel Valerio-Torres siblings Rodolfo Torres, Alfredo Torres, Samuel Torres and William Torres. She is survived by her siblings Libertad Torres, Israel Torres, Victor Torres, Adeli Torres along with her children Kymberly Masiel, Jamar Hall, son in law Andrew Masiel Jr, Grandchildren Jazlyn Hall (Rebecca Gonzales/Mother), Kameelah Hall (Rosalyn Stanley/Mother), Raelynn Masiel and Somaya Masiel.
Rosie moved to the United States with her family at the age of 12. The family settled in Little Italy a neighborhood in the city San Diego, California. After moving to the United States Rosie quickly adapted and made life-long friends in middle school. Rosie’s family along with the Soto Family were instrumental in the creation of the “House of Puerto Rico” located in Balboa Park. In fact, Rosie was crowned the first Queen of the House of Puerto Rico. The House of Puerto Rico serves as a vibrant cultural hub and welcoming home for individuals of Puerto Rican descent promoting the rich heritage, traditions, and achievements of the Puerto Rican community. Rosie was very proud of her Puerto Rican heritage and took numerous trips back to the island to visit.
As an adult Rosie worked for the Legal Aid Society a non-profit organization in San Diego for 31 years. Legal Aid Society strives to improve the lives of underserved communities through vigorous legal advocacy. Legal Aid Society is the largest provider of free legal aid in San Diego County. Rosie was very proud of her work for Legal Aid Society and made deep connections with co-workers.
Rosie was a devoted single mother and dedicated her life to providing love, strength, and guidance to her children. Her resilience, courage, and unwavering commitment to her family were truly inspiring. She faced life's challenges with grace and a smile, always putting her children’s happiness and well-being first. This love and care extended to anyone in need as she opened up her doors to family and friends. Rosie created a special bond with all of her grandchildren. This bond extended to her numerous nieces and nephews. She touched the lives of everyone around her and leaves behind a legacy of perseverance and unconditional love. We will miss her dearly but are grateful for the time we shared! We love you always Rosie!
