

Rosario “Chayo” Castro Castorena, 91, of Imperial Beach, California, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025. Born on August 27, 1933, in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, Rosario dedicated her life to caring for others, working as a caregiver for seniors until her retirement in 1995.
Rosario was the beloved wife of Jesus Castorena, who predeceased her on May 15, 2018. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Guadalupe and Santos, her brother Ramon, and her great-grandchild, Jasmine.
Rosario leaves behind a loving legacy, cherished by her sons Jesus, Eduardo, and Alberto; her daughter, Rosa Maria; her grandchildren Jesus, Carlos, Vanessa, Daniel, Erika, Bruce, Michael, Alberto, Michael, and Monica; and her great-grandchildren Jhaysie, Jesus, Christian, Ariel, Aiden, Alexa, Liliana, Natalia, Nathan, Kevin, Casen, Kayla, Favian, Milana, Alberto, Antonio, Annessa, Aaliyah, and Arianna. She also leaves behind two great-great-grandchildren, Cielo Sol Jesus and Luna.
A devoted Catholic, Rosario was an active member of St. Charles Catholic Parish, where she served as a catechist, a lector, and a member of the Guadalupana Group for many years. She was also a valued member of the Imperial Beach Senior Center and the Mutualista in Tijuana.
Rosario's vibrant spirit was evident in her love for singing and dancing. She was deeply involved in the lives of all her grandchildren, demonstrating the immense love and devotion she held for her family.
