

Everyone’s life is the sum total of all of the people they have met, the things they have done, the places they have gone. Ruben Gonzales Dionisio was no exception. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Ruben will be remembered as an exceptional person.
Ruben’s life journey began on April 1, 1938. He first greeted the world in Manila, Philippines. His parents' were Armando R. and Segundina G. Dionisio. He was raised with one brother Herminio G. Dionisio. Ruben was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his family sharing many life experiences over the years.
Ruben was a typical teenager who had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. He graduated from St. Williams High School in San Marcelino, Zambales, Philippines. He later attended Mapua Institute of Technology and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1961.
Falling in love is a huge milestone for any person. Just knowing that you have met that special someone is a magical feeling. Ruben experienced that with Alicia Fedeluz Labrador and the couple exchanged wedding vows on March 29, 1964. The wedding took place in the St. Columban Chapel in Olongapo City, Philippines. Empathic and loyal, Ruben was committed to making his new family happy.
While everything a person does in life contributes to who they grow into, it is ultimately this same person who holds the most influence on the next generation. Ruben was blessed with six children Ruel, Ruby, Ruben Jr., Ruth Roxanne and Roy. Ruben worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs, raising his children in a positive and nurturing environment. Later on, Ruben was blessed with the gift 15 grandchildren.
How a person performs in the workplace can be a reflection on how they live their life. Fortunately, Ruben enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Ruben worked diligently and did his best to succeed in each of his jobs. Ruben worked as an Eligibility Technician for the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency for 9 years, as a Data Analyst for Continental Data Graphics for 2 years also in San Diego, California, as in Inspector for Royal Saudi Air Force for 3 ½ years in Taif, Saudi Arabia, Assistant Div. Head for Royal Saudi Naval Forces for 9 years in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. As a Mechanical Engineer for Subic Naval Base for 18 years in the Philippines and as an Engineer for Pendik Consultants in Bandar, Abbas, Iran for 4 years.
A person's hobbies often mirror who they have become. Ruben enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in a number of different activities, including watching T.V. such as the Filipino Channel, playing Bingo, watching game shows such as Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and sports channels. He was usually willing to share his interests with others. His accomplishments were being a Charter Member of Lions International. His proudest accomplishments were seeing all of his children graduate and finish college.
Ruben G. Dionisio left us on February 22, 2013. He passed away in Spring Valley, California. The cause of death was due to Prostate Cancer with Metastases. He is survived by his wife Alicia and his children, Ruel, Ruby Ruben, Jr., Ruth Roxanne and Roy along with Tony, Neilyn, Randy, Marius and Valerie-in-laws. His grandchildren Paul, Toby, Jan, Martin, Reilyn, Regine, Reeca, Neil, Reuben, Reona, Julian, Mico, Raphael, Raine and Raiden. Services were handled by Glen Abbey Mortuary. A Funeral Service was held at The Little Lodge at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California on Sunday, March 3, 2013.
So this is Ruben’s life, the sum of the man that he became. Simply stated, Ruben was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being caring and giving, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Ruben leaves behind him a legacy of lifelong friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life Ruben G. Dionisio touched will always remember him with a smile
