Salvador Villanueva Minas

He was born on April 26, 1932, in Castillejos, Philippines, to Basilisa Villanueva Minas and Francisco Minas.

Salvador proudly served in the United States Navy from March 26, 1954 to September 30, 1974, an experience that shaped his lifelong sense of discipline, faith, and devotion to family. He retired as a Storekeeper (SK1) Petty Officer First Class. He earned several medals while enlisted, including a Vietnam Service Metal, Campaign Metal, and 5 Good Conduct Metals. After retiring from the Navy, he took a position with the Civil Service. He retired from the workforce in 1994.

He married the love of his life, Edita Limbag, on May 3rd, 1961. She preceded him in death in 2015. Together they shared 54 years of marriage filled with love, faith, and family.

He is survived by his beloved children, Marissa Olivas and Mark Minas; his cherished grandchildren, Amanda, Madeline, Michael, Melanie, and Marcus; and his treasured great-grandson, Kian.

He was preceded in death by his son, Marvin Minas (2022), and his beloved wife, Edita Limbag (2015).

Salvador was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He found joy in tending his garden, fishing, spending time outdoors, and working on countless DIY projects.

Whether fixing, building, or improving something around the home, he took pride in working with his hands and caring for the space where his family gathered.

He also loved a good game of poker and enjoyed trips to Sycuan Casino, where he shared laughs and time with family and friends. A proud grandfather, he treasured every moment with his growing family.

He will be remembered for his funny nature, quiet strength, and hardworking spirit.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 22 at 5:00pm-9:00pm at Glenn Abbey in Chula Vista. Funeral services will take place on Monday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church (2643 Homedale St in San Diego) on February 23 at 10:00am with internment immediately following.

Salvador’s legacy of love, faith, and family will live on in all who knew him.
