He returned to Ethiopia after his studies and started working at Water Resource in Ethiopia. He later joined Shell Oil Company as the companies Operating Manager up until he left Ethiopia. On August 12, 1989 he immigrated to the United States of America because of religious persecution. Upon settling in San Diego, he began his career as a Professional Civil Engineer at the City of San Diego Water Resource Department until his retirement in 2008.
Seyoum dedicated his life to his wife of 50 years Mihret Tedla Asgedom and his four children. His son Simon and his wife Mehret (Mimi) Adugna along with their daughters Lia and Luam. His 2nd son Yoftahe and his wife Rishan Lemma and their children Isabella and Mikael. His third son Abijah. Lastly, his daughter Rahel along with her children Elijah and Nile. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and a very large extended family members that loved him dearly.
Seyoum was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses along with his wife Mehret on August 8, 1967. He has since dedicated his life to serving Jehovah God faithfully. He has endured many persecutions for his love to Jehovah and maintained his integrity due to his love to his creator. His joy in life was to preach about God’s will and purpose for humankind.
Seyoum had such a unique and wonderful personality that drew people. He was dearly loved by his family, fellow worshipers, classmates and colleagues. He had profound knowledge of the truth and was an avid reader of all kinds of subjects. He had a sense of humor that could lighten up any situation. He was a very humble, kind, genuine, generous and charming individual. He had such a great love and respect for mankind. He believed in simplicity and for that reason refused to have a cell phone. He has made a difference and touched countless lives. He will be missed by everyone who loved him dearly.
We want to thank our dear family, fellow worshipers and friends for sharing this day with us and supporting us in this very difficult time. We appreciate and are forever thankful for your thoughts and prayers. We will cherish it forever.
