

Sharon passed away peacefully at her granddaughter’s home in Chula Vista, CA. She was born in Waukegan, Ill to Commission Warrant Officer John J. O’Neill and Hilaria Eleanor Slack O’Neill. Her father’s naval career brought the family to settle in Chula Vista, when Sharon was nine. She graduated from Cathedral Catholic Girls High School and San Diego State University. Sharon taught elementary school for three decades, enjoyed dancing, music, and theater arts.
Sharon was pre-deceased by her daughter, Deborah Smith King, and her son-in-law, Jaime Equihua. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen M. Equihua and granddaughters, Sarah Equihua (John Folker), Rachel Equihua (Rene Vasquez), and Vanessa Soosan Naimi. She leaves great grandchildren: Aeva Vasquez, Nora Vasquez, Lucia Vasquez, Madex McDonald, Rowen Folker, Gianna Naimi, Melia Naimi, and Leonardo Naimi. Sharon’s brother, John J. O’Neill II (Ann), and his children John O’Neill III and Kathryn O’Neill.
A Rosary and Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 293 H St., Chula Vista, CA 91910 on Tuesday, April 14 at 9:30 am. Glen Abby Mortuary, Bonita, CA is handling the arrangements.
A reception will follow services at the Chula Vista golf course 4475 Bonita Road, Bonita ca 91902
