The last time I saw Boy was 35 yrs ago- our class 83 med school graduation. This Dec 6,2018, I was so excited and sad to seeing you as you will leave us. But I felt really sad because I never saw you again. No goodbyes this time but instead prayed for your next journey- a journey to eternal life. Sending with you my prayers and to our classmates who have gone before us- to our dear president manong willy,lulu,gil,gabet,masao, manny,alex,egay and boyet. Now you have a team with mascot and muse pa. Rest in peace Boy. Eternal rest grant unto your soul Boy and let perpetual light shine upon you.

Your mass has begun.  I am not there physically, but still I am with you. You will be remembered  for a long time. Each day I come to this site to read the new memories people have shared. What a legacy you have left for your family. You lived well & served well.

To the loving Uy family,
My sincere condolences and prayers of strength to you. I met Mr. Uy very few times when he visited Raquel at UCI and each time, he made me laugh. For some reason, He came when I was braiding for super long hours and would joking ask for his hair to be braided. This always cracked me up. I really admire how you carried and protected your family Mr. Uy. Your love and happiness shined to not just your family but to those you met even when brief. It is so sad to say goodbye so unexpectedly and so soon. I pray for your eternal peace and comfort for those you left behind.


UY family, I'm very blessed to have been invited to the home many times & treated like family.  I first met Sylvestre in 2013 but through all the joking around & fun times, seems longer.  Also all the many meals together.  When I received notice of his passing, I was at work & saw text.  It shook me at first & then it was like I heard him say " C' mom cry for me" .  Similar to the way we joked,  couldn't cry but I knew he was called to duty.  His body tired but as I spoke to friends about him.  How his face would light up talking about his daughters success.  Could very much see Joy.  I also had a laugh remembering bringing him NY cheesecake & next day he would say " We threw it in the garbage" but with huge smile.   I nick named him " The Donkey " due to his work ethic, very tough & no complaints & in turn I was Koba / when angry / upset & Maurice when I wouldn't talk- Planet of Apes characters...  In the 4 yrs I've known Sylvestre, I have a lifetime of memories & laughs.  Earlier in year, last I spoke to him on phone he asked when I was coming back & if I forgot him.   Which was I felt a little better thinking about this, he passed away early morning of my birthday.   So for my self knowing him & as I mentioned hearing that voice.  I could feel like he would say, " Now you wont forget me".     I can say he was a tremendous friend & a prime example of a Family Man.  

 Perlita & girls, I am so very sorry for your loss of this wonderful man. 
I met Silvestre about 12yrs ago & worked with both him & Perlita over the years; two wonderful nurses. 
Silvestre was fun. He had a very unique & infectious laugh that would echo through the halls. His sense of humour would catch most people off guard. Everytime he spoke with colonoscopy patients , he would remind them to make sure & pass gas after their procedure,  stating "the louder the better." This would always bring laughter from the patients & their families, putting them at ease. 
Silvestre nicknamed me Boss, others were Chief, & then there were other names, which were well deserved lol. Truly, I think it was all part of his humour & mocking us with our nicknames. In reality, he was The Boss, The Chief, a Leader. He knew that operating room & just what to do in any & every situation. He could fix & find just about anything. He may have never known it,  but I looked up to & admired him. He was one of a very elite few you could trust everything would be alright because he was there.
Silvestre loved to point out my grey hairs. He would tell me I was too young & "sexy" to have greys.  When he went out on medical leave, I texted him to check up on him. As always his style, he was more concerned with how me & my family were doing. We exchanged fun banter & he made me promise never to let my hair go grey.  In turn, I made him promise not to worry about getting back to work & just enjoy life & his family. 
He always remembered his coworkers during Mother's Day, Birthdays, & Holidays, sending greetings & well wishes. A true gentleman, he was.
What I will remember most is how his face would light up everytime he spoke of his girls & his beautiful love, Perlita. You were all his life. I will miss him. He was a great nurse, but you could see in his smile through his eyes, he was a devoted father & husband first & foremost.  Love & Hugs to you & your family during this time. Love, Misty

I/we met Boy and his family through my son Freddie and his daughter Ana. We became in-laws afterwards. As I/we begin to know his family, we could tell right away that his family were very close to each other. Boy has a fun-loving personality, good natured person, loving husband to his wife, great father to his two beautiful daughters (raised them really well), has a contagious laugh, liked to surround himself with families and friends, and loved food (bless his heart). To this day, still can't believe that he passed away. For us, we were really looking forward to see our first grandaughter growing up. We were deeply saddened of your passing, gone too soon in our opinion.
Boy, I know that u will be looking over Kara and your family from heaven. You'll be missed especially the family that you left behind and friends. Even though we've known you for a short time, we are happy that we've met and became in-laws. You're one angel looking over us from above. Boy & Let, Korpi and me “are”  best friends since med school and gaudy joined us during our 3rd year. 
So many happy memories- a loving, caring , brother/ parang father to me and korpi very straightforward kahit “ ouch”  . We will always  be a fmly . I remember everytime we see each other will always be fun reminiscing our life in Med school and clerkship internship at Jose Reyes MMC.  Boy  is a big part of our Love Story.
Thank you so much for everything Boy Gaudy and i will miss you Boy and  will remember you in our prayers.

I met Boy and Let through Emy, a high school friend who came to visit CA. She asked that we visit them in Los Banos. So we drove there and stayed for 3 days. I’ve never met a couple so warm and caring. I loved Boy’s sense of humor. On our  way back to Long Beach, he sent me a bag of dried squid for my husband. I talked to my husband about Boy and Let repeatedly.  I am touched at how they welcomed me like they did Emy, my friend. It was as if they have known me a long time already - treated me like family. I was looking forward to welcoming them in my home. I promised Boy I’d cook his favorite laing. I was looking forward to introducing them to my family.

 I guess Boy was meant to just be an angel who passed by and touched my life for a short moment. I will never forget him.

God speed, Boy. I will always remember you and your family in my prayers. Please don’t forget to look down in Long Beach for your new friend as you’re up there in  heaven.

"Who is Tito Boy?" that's what my grandma said when we got home after showing her the red shoes Tito Boy bought me. Grandma didn't know Tito Boy then. Tita Lhet just introduced him to us when my mom and I went home on vacation to the PI when I was about 5 years old. Needless to say, Tita Lhet got in "trouble"...but it didn't stop her from loving Tito Boy.

Tito Boy was the most caring person I knew. I will always  remember him being very kind and generous to everybody. We love you Tito Boy and you'll be missed!!!

Mr. Uy had one of the kindest and warmest souls. Not only was he a loving husband, father, brother, son, he was also always so warm and welcoming to anyone who had the joy of knowing him. It was because of his lively spirit that some of my fondest memories are of days playing Just Dance, swimming in the pool, and eating lumpia in the Uy household.  Thank you for everything, Mr. Uy, you will truly be missed. 

My fondest memory of Mr. Uy would have to be when I would go over to visit Raquel and bring my younger sister. ( who was about five or six at the time) I distinctly remeber him playing hind and go seek for hours on end with her and Us! He always made sure his daughters were smiling and I saw that love through the way he treated my sister and I. Our hearts are with you.

My deepest condolences to Perlita and her daughter, to silvestre daughters  I personally know how hard and sad is to lose a parent and no word can give you peace but know this your father was a very nice man and well like in the hospital.
To perlita im so sorry  there’s just no words to comfort you. I still remember when I found out you guys were married and I just thought you guys were a perfect peaceful couple. I can still see him walking the halls with a smile. May he Rest In Peace and God give you guys guidance and peace . 

Tito Baste is a really kind person. I remember he drove from Los Banos to San Francisco to pick me up in the airport when I was spending my semestral break here in California. When I came back to California for good, he invited me and my mom almost every weekend to go to San Jose with him, Tita Perlita, Raquel and Rochelle. We would eat at Barrio Fiesta then go to Jollibee at Great Mall then we would go to Island Pacific and buy Filipino goodies. He loves his empanada. He is such a positive person and I enjoyed spending time with him and his family. When I looked at him and Tita Perlita, I could only admire a perfect loving couple and parents. Their marriage is an epitome of true love, of understanding and weathering adversities and challenges that come. Their house is always welcome for us. He treated my mom like his sister and they both have the same last name that’s why for me he is like a real tito to me and will always be. Tito Baste, I know you are with God already. It’s still hard to believe that you are no longer here with us. Sometimes I feel like it’s not true or it’s just a dream and that we would still go to Barrio Fiesta and eat our favorite food. But I know God welcomed you with open arms. We love you and everyday we will miss you. You are with God and the angels now.

I just realized, I lost a brother, my Kuya as I call him but I did not lose those happy memories we made. My whole family, Joey , Patrizia and Patrick are lucky to have felt your love and generosity.
Boy, you know how much we love you. You taught us how we should live our lives while here on earth. I am sure, God welcomes you with so much love and joy.
I promise that I will still be there for Let, Rochelle, and Racquel when they need me.

Silvestre was ALWAYS smiling every time I stepped foot in the Uy household. To an outsider, it seemed like he created the perfect life for him and his family. He created such a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all the Uy’s friends and family including myself. Silvestre helped raised two beautiful, incredible, strong young ladies who have also made such an immense impact on my life. Without him, I would have never found one of my closest friends. Thank you for all your kind smiles, yummy food, and open heart Silvestre. 

Beting my friend, I think you are dropping me to write , this is the 5th time I am trying. Anyway, I just like to say we shared a special bond, we’ve been friend since grade school.Even though we were out of touch for a long time our friendship remains the same. And we were supposed to be sharing something , to be a lolo and lola , at almost same time but you decided to to leave .Our last messages to each other Nov 5 was about  Kara your apo, that any day you are going to be called Lolo, and  you responded 👍👏. i’ll miss u my friend.

Life is short as they say but for Boyong as i call him, it was lived to the fullest. Having a loving wife and two wonderful daughters, loving family and friends, a good career and a comfortable life, he is truly  blessed because he is such a simple, fun loving  and very generous person. 
To Let, Rochelle and Raquel, i know it will be hard but i pray that God give you the strength and comfort as He has called a faithful son home. Take care. With my love and prayers. 

I worked with Silvestre at Memorial Hospital Los Banos, he always had a smile on his face, I called him "Boss" and no matter 
where he saw me he always had a pinch on the neck for me, and then he would just laugh.  Last time I saw him was in Wal Mart, he pinched my neck and I called him Boss. Payers for his family, he will be missed.





Dr. Uy had touched so many lives. We are very grateful that we had the chance to know him as our loving boss and most especially, as our friend.

Our memories started in Los Banos in surgery at M.H.L.B. as co-workers. I called Sylvestre " Slick" & he called me "Chief". Whenever I called him he would always respond with " Yes Chief". It was a work friendship but it was a good one. One year I made him a pumpkin cream cheese cake roll for his birthday & it became a tradition. I retired in 2013 so didn't see much of him after that. One Mother's Day I got a text message wishing me a happy day. I responded asking if it was meant for me. He said "Of course ". And an occasional text saying "Gud a.m." how are you & Dewayne? In December 2017 my husband received a liver transplant in San Francisco.  Surgery went well, but he had complications not related to his surgery. During this time I got a " Gud a.m." text from  Sylvestre just asking how we were. Well I poured my heart out to him because I was so afraid my husband was not going to live. It was then that I learned what he had gone through with his heart. He understood my fears , but assured me all would be well & he & my husband would go on walks together after we got home so they could get stronger together. Another text while we were still in the city to check on us. He said he & Perlita had been to San Juan Bautista & he lit candles for us at the Mission. The "Gud a.m." texts would come after we returned home with him telling me how much better he was doing & anxious to return to work. November 5th Dewayne & I were back to San Francisco for a procedure. And like he knew.... I get a "Gud a.m. " greeting. What timing! I told him what we were doing & he told me he was in San Diego  for the birth of his grandchild.  So excited for him. Back home & I hear the sad news of his surgery & condition.  I prayed for him to be well.  I wished I could send Slick a "Gud a.m." message like he sent to me over & over . I will miss him in so many ways. He was a good man & when he laughed , well, all was good in the world. But for now, Slick, this is Chief signing off

Silvestre was truly like a second father to me. I only knew him for 10 short years but that man was full of so much love, especially for his family. Those who knew him knew that he was a tender soul underneath his hard exterior. He always made me feel as if I was a part of his family. His daughters, who have now become like sisters to me, have shown me nothing but unconditional love and I know that was something Silvestre instilled into them; to always walk through hell and back for the ones we loved. His daughters embody pieces of who he was and I know they will continue to carry on his legacy. I am truly greatful to have had him as a part of my life, and my heart aches at the thought of never seeing him wave to me from the mailbox, but I know he is resting in paradise. Silvestre, thank you for everything. I am eternally grateful for you. 

I remember there was this time when I went to the Uy's house to see Ana and Raquel but they weren't home yet. So instead of turning me away Mr. And Mrs. Uy offered me a seat at their table and fed me pansit and limpia and so much food I could never list it all here. And the whole time I felt so welcomed and cared for and that really says a lot about who Mr. Uy was. He was kind, friendly, and giving. I also remember once I went over and my feet were cold walking around and he told me to wear his sandals around the house and that memory always makes me smile.

one of the most generous, kind and loving person that I have met.    I will remember how  Ate Let and Kuya Boy shared the story of their wedding day.  Against all odds...not even the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo can stop them from tying the knot on that day.   They made married life look so easy and so happy because they were always laughing even if at times you knew they had misunderstandings.    They were my models of how life should be lived - simple, family-centered,  God -centered, full of love for each other, for their daughters, and siblings as well.     I just cannot separate one from the other when I look back.  It was always about them.    Kuya Boy...that gentleman with an infectious laugh and loud voice will always be remembered fondly.    Ate Let, Rochelle and Raquel, I will continue to pray for God's grace to give you strength not only during this time but always.   Kuya Boy may have gone ahead but his memories will live on in our hearts.  Thank you for sharing him  with us in friendship.
