

Sylvia S. Charfauros was born on January 21,1934 in Agat, Guam. She was the daughter of Vicente and Carmen Salas. Sylvia was raised in Guam with seven siblings. She had three sisters, Anna, Asuncion and Alvina, and four brothers, Roque, Juan, Joaquin and Diego.
In 1949, Sylvia exchanged wedding vows with her sweetheart Roman T. Charfauros. They were blessed with six children, Carmen, Ronald, Frank, Rose, Ben and Christopher. Sylvia worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs.
Another blessing for Sylvia was the gift of fourteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one great great grandchild named Guy, Serena, Ronald Jr, Robert, Melissa, Lynel, Kimo, Joseph, Dylan, Jacob, Mathew, Steven, Keith, Keoki, Melodie, Geena, Adrian, Siera, Ariana, Mariciso, Love Lyn, Avilio, Diego, Tresure Lyn, Appollo, Mahealani and Joshua.
Showing a strong work ethic, Sylvia worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her occupations in sales and in food preparation. She was employed for over 15 years by the U.S. Navy Exchange.
Throughout her life, Sylvia was a doer and was always actively involved in community organizations. She was a lifetime member of the Sons and Daughters of Guam Club. She served as a board member, Sergeant of Arms and was involved with seniors and the choir.
Sadly, Sylvia passed away on March 8, 2011 at Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa, California. She fought a brave battle against cancer. She is survived by her children Carmen Henderson, Ronald Charfauros, Frank Charfauros, Rose Taylor, Ben Charfauros and Christopher Charfauros; step daughter Barbara Ibanez; grandchildren Guy Henderson, Serena Garabaldi, Ronald Charfauros Jr., Robert Charfauros, Melissa Charfauros, Lynel Charfauros, Kimo Taylor, Joseph Taylor, Dylan Taylor, Jacob Charfauros, Mathew Charfauros, Steven Charfauros, Keith Henderson and Keoki Taylor; great grandchildren Melodie H., Geena H., Adrian A., Siera G., Ariana G., Mariciso C., Love Lyn C., Avilio C., Diego C., Tresure Lyn C., Appollo C. And Mahealani T. and great great grandchild Joshua B. Services were held at St. Rita Catholic Church on March 15, 2011. Sylvia was laid to rest in Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California.
Simply stated, Sylvia was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Sylvia leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Sylvia S. Charfauros.
