My grandma Teresa protected us fiercely and she unapologetically loved us in many forms. She made the journey from our homeland of México and began our family’s story in the United States. She is the founder of our American family tree branch.
She made the impossible possible, made sure we always had a bite to eat, and worked hard every day of her adult life to provide for her family. She taught us the value of earning what we desire and love for family above all else.
My grandma Teresa was also very funny, even at times unintentionally, but still funny and she always had a way to make you laugh.
Abuela, I’d give anything to hear your speak to me again, but I know that you’re resting in your much-deserved peace. You’re also now reunited with my great-grandmother Conchita, your beloved brother Issac, my uncle Eduardo, and surrounded by more family, friends and pets that were once with us in the world living. I like to think that you’re hosting all of them for morning coffee, pan dulce and conversation just like you always used to.
Abuelita, I already miss you dearly but I know that I’ll be seeing you again. Thank you for a lifetime of love and memories that you gave us. I will never forget you. I am because you are.
