Legends were born to mark and print this very planet filled with their accomplishments. In the Philippines on June 4, 1950, a marvelous girl was born to Victor and Milagros Valerio. Given the name Trinidad R. Valerio, which in terms means “trinity”, she was the second and oldest sister in the family of 11. As one of the oldest, she would monitor and take care of her younger siblings. Ranging from cooking food to comforting each and every one of them. Her parents were very hard workers and wanted a good future for every one of them. Her 5 brothers are Jaime, Ariosto, Carlito, Victor Jr., and Delfin. Her 3 sisters are Filomena, Yolanda, and Angelina.
Trinidad attended Mabolo Elementary as a child, following up to Centro Escolar High School for 1 year, until transferring to Saint Joseph College, where she graduated as a high school graduate. She was married at the age of 17 years old to Rolito Janolino until the time of his death, November 3, 1999. Eventually, she remarried to Carlos Cunanan in 2007. She is survived by two beautiful and loving daughters, Arlyn V. Dioso and Marivic V. Navarro and eight grandchildren, Dominic Valerio, Victoria Marielle Valerio, Victoria Millicent Navarro, Lino Navarro Jr., Janice Dioso, Acel Jolyn Dioso, Jonathan Dioso Jr., and Anica Jaelyn Dioso. Being born to a family of bakers, she operated bakeries at a very young age. Her bakeries were located in Binakayan and R. Basa St. Cavite City. Eventually, with her family, she migrated to the United States in January 1984, where she continued operating a bakery, well known as Valerio’s City Bakery located in 3325 Palm Avenue, San Diego, CA 92154 for 29 years. With the greatest of her efforts in working hard, she made lots of friends and attracted a lot of customers who would always come back for more. To her customers, her bakery was well known to having that vintage taste due to sticking with old school machines, giving nostalgia for everyone to remember. In the bakery, she liked working on pastries and desserts such as cuchinta, puto, bibingka, puto bungbong, and many more.
Aside from being a hard worker as a baker, she was also a loving and caring mother and grandmother to her 2 children and 8 grandchildren. Her most absolute wishes were to see every one of her grandchildren to grow up, finish college, and have a good life. She would always imagine the future and would always put time in her love with everybody. Her hobbies consisted of eating fruits and vegetables, watching Filipino channels, listening to Filipino music, shopping. praying, and hanging out with the family. She would often take her grandchildren out to the mall during her free time and shop clothes for them and herself. She had no limit in what she was buying for them, as what mattered to her was making each of them happy. As an individual, the clothes she wore stood out to who she was. She was always in style. Outfits ranging from uniquely crafted scarves, her fabulous Tory Burch shoes, and her grand-looking bags. She would always be asked how old she was, and people would be in shock when they found out what her age was. She would always blast Filipino music on the way to work. She would always be hyped on soap dramas and open up a discussion in the plot with her children. She was always committed to going to prayers and church. She was a strong believer of God and she cherished her faith 100% all the time.
Located in the Naval Medical Center San Diego, Trinidad unfortunately passed away in March 17, 2013 at 3:27 A.M. in an open heart surgery. She will be missed dearly to everyone whom she bonded with. The memories she made with all of us will always be journaled in our hearts. The trinity of her siblings, children, and grandchildren will blossom into more generations to come, and her stories will be shared as her time as a loving sister, mother, grandmother, and of course, a legend.
Mama, you will always be in our hearts and I know you are watching in Heaven! Relax, enjoy, and watch us grow stronger as individuals!
