Victor V. Morrill, 57, was called home to the Lord on May 23rd 2019 at 6:31pm. He was surrounded by family and friends as he took his final breath, ending his valiant fight with Lymphoma at Sharp Bonita View Hospice in Chula Vista.
Victor, favorably know as “Bro”, was born September 24th, 1961 in San Diego to the late Numeriano G. Morrill and Soledad V. Morrill. He was the second youngest of their nine children, having 7 sisters and 1 brother.
Bro was a rambunctious wild spirited child, always having fun and being daring. He was inquisitive to the world and used his curiosity to self-teach new things. A trait he carried on through life.
Victor’s carefree spirit found himself making a few bad choices in life, ultimately landing him in prison. While many would be ashamed of this, Bro used this as a turning point and was extremely proud of his journey through life. Victor picked up his schooling again to obtain his GED. He learned many new traits to include leather-smith, jewelry, framework, clockwork, woodwork. Making beautiful pieces of artwork for his family such as personalized clocks for each sibling, purses for his sisters, rosaries for his nieces. He found his calling and wanted to help inmates to go back to school. However his biggest accomplishment was finding his Faith. This chapter brought him back to the Lord and to his church. He proudly became a part of the South Bay Seventh Day Adventist Church and it’s community.
Victor graduated from Southwestern College with an AA in Business and a 4.0 GPA. He had plans to continue his education at SDSU for his BA in business this coming fall. Victor received the Student of Distinction Award. A score of 10 on SDSUs WPA. As well as spoke to a room full of SWC professors about his education experience and successes. His goal was to start a non-profit education program to guide previously incarcerated individuals so they could lead successful lives.
Bro was such a happy spirit. Enthusiastic and optimistic. Laid back and adventurous. Patient and wise. Sincere and compassionate. He had a zest for life and saw the positive in every situation. He was easygoing and always ready to try new things, new experiences. He had patience and always gave the best advice. He was genuine and cared deeply. He was a family man and loved his family with everything he had. His faith was unwavering even in the most difficult of times. His smile was contagious, one that would have you smiling without even realizing it. To know him was really a blessing.
Victor’s life will be forever cherished in the lives of his devoted family. 7 sisters, Norma, Esther, Helen, Estela, Margarita (Margie), Suzanne (Susie), Soledad (Cho). 1 brother, Albert. 5 brother-in-laws, 1 sister-in-law, 22 nieces, 31 nephews, 7 niece-in-laws, 4 nephew-in-laws.
