A visitation for Virgines will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM in The Magnolia Room, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, CA 91902. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 450 Corral Canyon Road, Bonita, CA 91902. A graveside service will follow the mass at 11:30 AM at Glen Abbey Memorial Park, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, CA 91902.
Virgines was born on January 30th, 1932 in Allen, Samar, The Republic of the Phillipines. She is predeceased by her husband, Rafael Arnayro, Jr. and her parents, Victorio and Juana Frivaldo. She is survived by her daughter, Christine Karns and her sons, Randolph Arnayro and Rodney Arnayro. She is also survived by her grandchildren Nichole Karns, Nathalie Karns and Lance Karns. Surviving great grandchildren are Elliot Karns and Sutton Karns. Surviving in-laws include son-in-law Gregory Karns, son-in-law Charles Hartley, daughter-in-law Deborah Arnayro and granddaughter-in-law Margaret Karns.
She attended Dana Junior High School in Point Loma and graduated from San Diego High School in 1950. After high school, she worked for Civil Service where she met her husband, Ralph. Following the births of her three children, she started as a volunteer for the Head Start Program, which provides comprehensive pre-school services to three to five-year-old children. After working for Head Start for 20 years, she was promoted to Head Teacher/Center Director in 1985. In recognition of her twenty years of service, the County of San Diego proclaimed April 30th, 1999 as “Virgie Arnayro Day”, in honor of her many achievements to the community.
Her hobbies included dancing, family gatherings, taking care of her Orchids and supporting her grandchildren by attending many of their various athletic activities.
Donations can be made in Virgines’ name to Episcopal Community Services/ Head Start.
