Wilfredo (Willy) Pinano was born on October 10, 1952 in the Philippines to Carlos Y. Pinano and Mercedes C. Zapanta, who had seven other children: Alexander, Maria, Rosario, Carlito, Danilo, Noel, and Mercedita.
Willy graduated from University of Santo Tomas in Manila with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and a Doctor of Medicine and Surgery. He practiced ophthalmology for 10 years in the Philippines.
In 1984, he met Teresita (Tess) Pinano in San Diego, California and the two married on December 21, 1985. They bore two children together: Patrick and Camille.
Willy had great faith in God. He prayed the rosary daily and frequented church every Sunday with Tess. After Tess passed, Willy continued to attend mass and strengthen his faith. He was a father that cared deeply for his family. He was a father that worked diligently to ensure his family had food on the table. Willy thanked God everyday for allowing him to spend time with his family despite the many health issues he faced.
Willy had a curious or inquisitive mind. Even when his health began to decline, he maintained his passion of learning more about the world around him. He enjoyed enriching his knowledge base by reading and exercising what he knows by answering questions on Jeopardy. He learned in the same way he endured his heath conditions — with great determination and faith.
Willy will be missed deeply by his family and friends. May the Lord reward him with peaceful, eternal rest for the many kind acts he committed.
