

January 13, 1927 — March 9, 2017
Bill passed away at Mount Miguel Covenant Village in Spring Valley, California, where he moved with his second wife, Marilyn Bazley in 2011. He is survived by Marilyn, his son, Michael,(Flo), grandson, Brett, and sister, Mary V.Banks. He was preceded in death by his first wife and his daughter, Beth and her husband, Ron lmming. Their children, Jonathan, Peter, and Katy also survive him as well as two step children, Anne Townley and David Bazley and their eight offspring.
Bill graduated from Austin High School, where he excelled in athletics. After a year and a half in the Navy during World War II, he enrolled in the Univ. of Texas in Austin, majoring in engineering. After graduating he worked briefly in Texas until he was recruited by Rohr and moved with his family to the San Diego area. He later worked for the Convair division of General Dynamics for some 30 years until retiring. Bill worked as a structural engineer on many planes, and received numerous awards but he was most proud of his contribution to the success of the Space Shuttle, where he was responsible for the Cargo Bay. For that he received a medal and a commendation signed by the two astronauts aboard the Columbia in 1981, John Young and Bob Crippen.
Bill was a responsible, dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother and son, who was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by all.
A Visitation from 9:00 am to 11:00 am in The Little Chapel of the Roses at Glen Abbey Mortuary, 3838 Bonita Rd, Bonita, California 91902, followed by a brief graveside service with military honors, on Saturday, March 25, 2017.
