Dominick Licausi, 79, of Brooklyn, New York, passed away on July 1, 2026, in Estero, Florida, with his loving wife, Deborah, by his side. While battling kidney cancer, Dominick faced every challenge with strength, grace, and the smile that everyone who knew him will always remember.
Dominick was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Lena Licausi, and his older brother, Anthony. He is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah; his son, Gregory; his daughter-in-law, Marta; and his cherished grandchildren, Madeline and Graham.
Dominick and Deborah were married for 57 years and were truly a package deal from the very beginning. Rarely was one seen without the other, and their love and devotion to each other were evident to everyone who knew them. They spent a lifetime embracing every adventure together and especially loved traveling the world by cruise ship, creating unforgettable memories while enjoying the local cuisine in every port. A proud Sicilian, nothing brought Dominick greater joy than sharing a great meal with the people he loved.
He was a devoted father to his son, Gregory, and treasured the time they spent together, passing along his passion for the NY Giants, NY Mets, and NJ Devils. Dominick instilled his work ethic, the importance of family, and drive to succeed. In 2009, he welcomed Marta into the family as his “favorite” daughter-in-law, quickly discovering they shared a love of breaking down boxes and the capacity to talk for hours. Gregory and Marta looked forward to Dominick's annual Christmas wish list, thoughtfully curated each year with meaningful treasures and delightfully hard-to-find items that reflected his unique personality.
Becoming a grandfather was one of Dominick's greatest joys. Maddie and Graham adored their Grandpa and valued every moment they spent together. They looked forward to the imaginative games he created, his always optimistic outlook, and the famous "magical box," which never failed to hold a silly surprise or a special keepsake collected during his travels. The memories they created together will remain treasured gifts for a lifetime.
Dominick spent many successful years in the construction management industry, where he built not only projects but lifelong friendships. He never met a stranger and had a remarkable ability to make everyone around him feel welcome. Whether through his larger-than-life personality, quick wit, or unforgettable stories, he was often the life of the party and left a lasting impression wherever he went. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am on Friday, July 24, at Our Lady of Light Catholic Church. Following the service, family and friends are warmly invited to a repast at the Licausi family home, 20220 Cypress Shadows Boulevard, Estero, Florida, to continue celebrating Dominick's life and sharing the cherished memories he leaves behind.
