OBITUARY

Kenneth H. Nails

January 5, 1942 – May 10, 2026
IN THE CARE OF

Hodges Life Celebration Center

Kenneth H. Nails passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, at the age of 84 in Naples, Florida. His earliest memories were of joyful times spent with his brother, Chuck, and his many cousins in Chicago’s Brighton Park neighborhood. Ken often spoke fondly of the lifelong friendships he formed at St. Procopius College (now Benedictine University) in Lisle, Illinois, where he graduated in 1964. He went on to earn his law degree from John Marshall Law School (now University of Illinois Chicago School of Law) and was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1968.

During his career in the insurance industry, Ken played a vital role in the passage of Illinois’ 1985 mandatory seat belt legislation through his lobbying efforts with the Alliance of American Insurers. His work helped advance a law that has since saved countless lives. He ended his career as the General Counsel of Amica Mutual Insurance Company.

He leaves a profound legacy through his children, Patrick, Donna, and Diann, who carry with them warm memories of a father who was fair and principled — a quiet yet steady presence whose guidance helped shape their successful and happy lives.

Ken shared a wonderful 36-year marriage with his wife, Connie. Together they enjoyed countless joyful days filled with laughter — boating on Narragansett Bay, traveling throughout the United States and the Caribbean, and, in retirement, attending many social gatherings at The Club at Mediterra. Ken truly adored Connie, whose love and companionship enriched his life every day.

Ken is survived by his loving wife, Constance, his children Patrick (Joanne), Donna (Victor), Diann (Robert) and his stepdaughter Shannon Walsh. He is also survived by his brother Charles (Linda) and seven grandchildren – Katherine Nails Geoghegan (Michael), Julianna Nails, Carter Walsh, Anderson Walsh, Charlotte Walsh, Skylar Walsh and Aspen Fleming.

If you wish to honor his memory, donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or a charity of your choice.
