Ronald Lee Locker

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Lee Locker, known to many as "Rocket," who peacefully passed away in his sleep on December 25, 2024, at the age of 75.

Rocket was born on January 28, 1949, in Canton, Ohio, to Joseph Richard Locker Sr. and Anna Mae Cunningham Locker.

A graduate of Central Catholic High School in 1967, Rocket went on to study at Dayton University before serving honorably in the Marine National Guard for two years. Following his military service, he moved to Naples, Florida, where he began a lifelong career in the restaurant industry. Many will fondly remember him as their friendly waiter and bartender at popular local spots such as The Pewter Mug, Ridgeway Bar & Grill, The Turtle Club, and most recently, Buzz's Lighthouse.

Rocket's love for life extended beyond his work. He was a dedicated blood donor, an avid dog lover, and enjoyed many outdoor activities, including kayaking, fishing, and riding his bike. He could often be found thrifting, enjoying afternoon naps, and meeting friends to cheer on his beloved Ohio sports teams while savoring a good beer. He was a regular presence at family gatherings, especially during the annual Christmas candy-making tradition, where his warmth and humor shone brightly.

He is survived by his sister, Anne Locker Jaeger (Richard Jaeger), his brother, Rich Locker (Patricia), and his nieces and nephews: Betsy Miller, Suzy Llorca, Dr. Joe Locker, Andy Locker, and Mike Locker. Rocket is also survived by numerous great-nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph “Dick” and Anna Mae Locker.

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 25, 2025, from 1-5 PM at the home of his niece, Suzy Llorca, at 441 Weber Blvd. N, Naples, FL 34120. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Rocket will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but his spirit and infectious smile will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
