He was the cherished husband of Margaret "Mag" (Cole) Russell and the loving father of Kristy (Scott Davis) and Matthew Russell. Stephen was a devoted grandfather to Sarah and Tyler Davis. He is also survived by his brother, Phillip Russell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norma (Ross) and Theodore Russell, and his brother, David Russell, who he remembered with great fondness throughout his life.
Stephen was an active member of Saint Luke's Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he served as a Stephens Minister. He touched the lives of many through his compassion and dedication. His heart was also big when it came to helping others. He selflessly donated over 92 pints of platelets to children battling leukemia, making a profound difference in the lives of those he never met.
A true humanitarian, Stephen was the founder of the Angel Fund at the Kidney Donor Network, which helped ease the financial burden of kidney transplant recipients. He also dedicated his time and resources to supporting Golden PAWS in Naples, FL, a cause that was close to his heart. His legacy of kindness extended beyond his immediate family, and his acts of generosity continue to inspire all who knew him.
An avid Disney enthusiast and Mickey Mouse mega-fan, Stephen's joy for life was infectious, and he brought a playful spirit into everything he did.
A celebration of life for Stephen will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Hodges Life Celebration Center, 26051 S Tamiami Trail, Bonita Springs, FL 34134.
Stephen was a thoughtful, loving, and witty man whose presence will be sorely missed by his wife, Mag, family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. May his memory be a blessing.
