

Bernice Janeway, 87, died Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. She was born October 29, 1924, in Prentiss County to Etha Parker Bonds and Luther Curtiss Bonds. She was the widow of Raymond Alexander Janeway who preceded her in death on March 1, 1951. She was a member of Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church.
She was a 1942 graduate of Booneville high School. Throughout her life, she worked at various occupations some of which included the Booneville Hospital, Brown Shoe Company and Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company. She also was a Tupperware dealer and manager for many years, and worked as a food demonstrator at the Kroger Stores in Corinth and Tupelo. On her 85th birthday, she began her last and most enjoyable employment as a greeter at the Welcome Center in Corinth.
She was proud to be a member of the “Rosie the Riveter” Society that was formed during World War II and was a member of the Prentiss county Genealogical and Historical Society, and an active member of the Prentiss County Republican Party.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 4, 2012, at the McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ed Easley officiating. The eulogy will be given by her grandson, John Henderson. Burial will be in Holley Cemetery in Prentiss County.
She is survived by four daughters, Olivia Miller of Guntown, Gale Johnson (Julian) of Booneville, Claudia Hill (David) of Tupelo and Pam Henderson (Roger) of Booneville; six grandchildren, Trechia Miller Bogue (Kevin White) of Madison, John Henderson (Greta) of Mansfield, TX, Michael Miller (Ellen) of Conyers, GA, Jennifer Johnson Privett (Michael) of Euless, TX, Cori Johnson Sebren (Chris) of Edmond, OK and Leslie Hill Russell (Gary) of Tupelo; and fourteen great-grandchildrren, Case Bogue, Hayden and Ashley-Ann Henderson, Anna, Abby and Reese Miller, Emily, Shawn and Grace Privett, Tyler, Jacob, and Zachary Sebren, and Gage and Madison Russell.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and three sisters, Maedell Holder, Syble Brown and Louise Roy.
Pallbearers will be John Henderson, Michael Miller, Gary Russell, Chris Sebren, Tyler Sebren and Bill Caver.
The family would like to especially thank Dr. Mark Reed and the staff of the West clinics in Corinth and Memphis and to thank Dr. Joe Putnam for the care and compassion shown to their mother during her illness.
