Betty Carolyn McVey

Betty was born on October 14, 1940, to the late Cecil and Vista Windham Eaton. She was a longtime member of Carolina Church. Her family was the center of her life, and she cherished every opportunity to spend time with them. She was a caregiver to generations of children, opening her home and her heart to many beyond her own family.

She is survived by her children, Mack Hare (Deborah), Rick Hare (Penny), and Lisa Worsham (Kirk Peeples).

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Hilarie Hare, Haley Jones (Jeremy), Haden Hare (Lindsey), and Jeremy Gould (Samantha).

Her great-grandchildren are Emmie Caroline Jones, Hudson Jones, Cecelia Jude McMahon-Hare, Aiden Trice, Logan Trice, Holden Hare, Laiken Gould, Taegan Gould, and Railyn Anderson.

She is also survived by her brother, Bill Eaton (Neita); her sister, Vicky Palmer; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Vista Windham Eaton, and her husband of 53 years, Billy Joe McVey.

The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at McMillan Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at McMillan Funeral Home, with a private burial to follow.

Pallbearers will be Mack Hare, Rick Hare, Jeremy Jones, JB "Boo Boo" Hatfield, Trey Hatfield, and Marty McCreary.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Morris, Travis Childers, and David “Bubba” Pounds.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
