Bettye McGee Robinson of Memphis, TN went to be with our Lord and Savior Thursday, July 19, 2018 after a lengthy, courageous battle with cancer. Bettye Gordon was born December 27, 1936, in Booneville, MS to Gordon and Lexie McGee, who preceded her in death along with her husband, Bobby Wayne Robinson of 49 years. She and Bobby were high school sweethearts and both graduated from Booneville High School and The University of Mississippi. She and Bobby wed on her birthday in 1959. Bettye was a member of Delta Gamma sorority, Dream Pike Girl, and participated in the Miss Mississippi Beauty pageant. She and Bobby have two daughters, Stephanie Leigh McFarland (Terry), and Jennifer Frances Mensi (David). She is survived by three grandchildren, Robert Henry Burress, IV, Stephen Robinson Burress, and Jonathan William Mensi.

After college, she was a beloved elementary teacher in Pensacola, FL. Bettye was an avid gardener. She was a member of her neighborhood Garden Club. She loved her flowers and tomato plants. She loved the Ole Miss Rebels too. She played the piano and her favorite song was “How Great Thou Art.” She was an antique dealer and she and Bobby collected antiques locally and abroad. Bettye was the past president of her HOA, Cordova the Town. She and Bobby traveled extensively until his death.

Bettye was passionate about her children and her “grands”, as she fondly referred to her three grandsons. She was a loving wife and mother. She was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren’s accomplishments and could be found bragging about them to her friends and relatives. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

Bettye believed a true Southern lady knew when it was time to leave a party and go home.

Services will be held July 25th, at McMillian Funeral Home, 702 W. College St., Booneville, MS. Visitation will be 11:30am-1:30pm and services immediately following in the sanctuary.
