James Boyd Fugitt, 96, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Landmark Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Booneville. He was born March 16, 1928, to Henry Clovis and Sybil Fugitt. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University. Boyd was a U.S. Army veteran, and while in Akaska during a training exercise, he took shrapnel to the leg from friendly fire ending his military service. He managed Builders Supply for 25+ years and was a Mutual of Omaha insurance agent for 10+ years. He was a charter member of Grace United Methodist Church, and a member of the Civitan Club. He enjoyed using and riding his tractor around his place, helping Tami with cat and kitten rescue, and he loved his dogs, BoBo and Theodore.
A Celebration of Life will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 20, 2024, at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Hankins officiating. Burial will be in Booneville Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
He is survived by one daughter, Tami Berrios; one granddaughter, Paulina (Daniel Perea) Afentakis; one great-granddaughter, Aria Kramer; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Evelyn Ryan Fugitt; an infant child; one brother, Orville “T.O.” Fugitt; and three sisters, Maxola Bonds, Mozelle Kitchens and Wynette Kelley.
