James “Jim” Lee Shirley, 80, of Marietta passed away at his home on Thursday, September 13, 2018. He was a Baptist and a farmer. He served on the Yellow Creek Board, Mississippi State Soy Bean Promotion Board and the Farm Bureau Board of Directors. He loved farming, mowing and working in the Garden. He was an avid reader and loved John Grisham Novels, was an avid Mississippi State Football fan and most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, September 16, 2018 at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ray Bennett and Minister Ronnie Livingston officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Rest Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Linda Tyra Shirley; two daughters, Sonja (Harold) Smith and Suzette (Will) Endris; 2 grandchildren, Kyle (Amber) Smith and Cameron Endris; 2 great grandchildren, Paxton and Saylor Smith.
He is preceded in death by his parents, W.L. and Vannie Springer Shirley and Hugh Cliff and Eloise Shirley and one sister Shirley Lovvorn.
His farming friends will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be on Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
