Judy Alton (Knight) Petty passed away after battling cancer until the very end on August 11, 2026. She was born on October 5, 1958, in Booneville, Mississippi to J.B. and Linda Knight. She attended Jumpertown High School until the 11th Grade. She was a member of New Life Church of Jesus Christ. After school she spent the next few years working in factories and becoming a mother. She went on to get her CNA license and worked until retirement at Baldwyn Nursing Home. She spent her retirement years traveling with her younger sister JayAnn McMillan and later on her husband traveling to the mountains and different places. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She carried many titles throughout her life, but her most cherished was Granny, Grammy, Nanie, and Nana Who.
Services will be at McMillan Funeral Home with visitation on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Funeral service will be Friday, August 14, 2026 at 12:00 P.M. with visitation prior. Bro. Roy Joshlin and Bro. Melvin Harris will be officiating. A private burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of 9 years, Roy Phillips; one son, Bennie Gilley Jr. (Sam), one daughter, Kayla Carrillo (Ciderio); one granddaughter, Amore Gilley; two grandsons, Giovanni Carrillo and Nathaniel Carrillo; two nieces, Heather McMillan and Hope McMillan; one nephew, Bryan Guspan (Stacy); two great nephews, Brayden Stephens and Mitchell Guspan; three great nieces, Aiden Stephens, Harper Stephens, and Katelyn Guspan; her best friend, Unice Fair (Curtis); her sister from another mother, Jo Carol Knight; and a host of cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, JayAnn McMillan; her brother, Johnny Knight; father of her son, Bennie Gilley; her father-in-law, Markus Pedigo; mother-in-law, Linda Joyce Pedigo; and her brothers-in-law, Brian Pedigo and Steven Guspan.
Pallbearers are Brayden Stephens, Destin Olive, Gregory Knight, Michael Hodges, Bobby Abbott, Bryan Guspan, Curtis Fair, and Billy Reed.
