

Joseph Lester Thompson, 89, passed from this life to his eternal home on Saturday, August 28, 2010. He was a member of Christian Fellowship Church and a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He worked as a mechanic at Borden’s Milk Company and at Johnson’s Enterprises from where he retired. He was co-owner of Thompson’s Furniture, and he was loved by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 30, 2010 at the McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Sephus Garrett and Pastor Bob Null officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Liberty Memorial Gardens.
He is survived by one son, Jerry Wayne (Donna) Thompson of Marion; one daughter, Janice Cross of Collinsville; one brother, Harold (Jeanie) Thompson of Olive Branch; three sisters, Mildred Lowery of Thrasher. Etheline Lee of Rienzi, and Delma Sanchez of Booneville; nine grandchildren, Taletha (Scott) Swearingen, Tammara (Eric) Kennedy, Shannon Hollis, Jennifer Hollis, Jay (Tonya) Hollis, Jeremy Thompson, Audrey Thompson, Emily Thompson and Katlyn Thompson; ten great-grandchildren, Bradley McNeece, Victoria McNeece, Karli Swearingen, Bailey Swearingen, Walker Swearingen, Eli Swearingen, Jayden Hollis, Loren (Jordan) Robinson, Brandon Kennedy and Kristen Kennedy; one great-great-grandson, Cruz Kline.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Victoria Thompson; his wife, Mildred Bernice Brackeen Thompson.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and until service time Monday at the funeral home.
